Curative Effect of Chinese Herbal Decoction as Adjuvant Therapy of Active UC Patients and Its Effect on Inflammatory Factor Production and Immune Function

Objective: To investigate the curative effect of Chinese herbal decoction as an adjuvant in the treatment of patients with active ulcerative colitis (UC) and its effect on inflammatory factor production and immune function. Methods: A total of 80 active UC patients treated in our hospital from Sep. 2017 to Sep. 2019 were selected, and they were divided into a control group and an observation group by the random number table method. The control group was treated with mesalazine, and the observation group was additionally treated with Chinese herbal decoction on the basis of the control group. The clinical effect, the levels of tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-10 (IL-10) and peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets of two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group; After treatment, the TNF-a and IL-6 levels in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the IL-10 level in the both groups was significantly higher than that before treatment. The levels of TNF-a and IL-6 in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the IL-10 level in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group. The CD8+ level in the both groups were significantly higher than that before treatment, and the CD4+/CD8+ level in the both groups were significantly lower than that before treatment. The CD8+ level in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the CD4+/CD8+ level in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group. Conclusion: The Chinese herbal decoction as an adjuvant in the treatment of active UC patients has a remarkable clinical effect, and it can effectively improve the immune function and reduce the inflammatory response of the patients.
