Abstract

Objective To analyze the treatment effect of addition and subtraction of traditional Chinese medicine decoction on mixed hemorrhoids patients undergoing Milligan-Morgan and its influence on inflammatory factors and growth factors. Methods A total of 350 patients with mixed hemorrhoids who underwent Milligan-Morgan in our hospital from May 2018 to May 2020 were selected, and they were divided into control group  and observation group (n=175) according to different treatment methods. The control group was treated with chitosan gel, while the observation group was treated with Puji hemorrhoid suppository plus traditional Chinese medicine decoction based on the control group. The clinical efficacy, scores of main symptoms before and after operation, levels of inflammatory factors and growth factors, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of clinical treatment in the observation group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). The scores of pain, edema, hemorrhage and difficult defecation in the two groups after operation were significantly lower than before operation (P<0.05), and the symptom scores in the observation group were significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05); The levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in the two groups were significantly lower than before operation (P<0.05), and the levels of these factors in the observation group were significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05); The levels of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in the two groups were significantly higher than before operation (P<0.05), and the levels of these factors in the observation group were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05); There were no significant differences in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Addition and subtraction of traditional Chinese medicine decoction exerts a favorable treatment effect on mixed hemorrhoids patients undergoing Milligan-Morgan by alleviating the main discomfort symptoms, reducing the levels of inflammatory factors, and improving the levels of growth factors, with high safety.
